Acceptance

By using Nuzlocked (https://www.nuzlocked.io) or signing in, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Accounts

Accounts are linked through Google and/or Discord OAuth. You are responsible for activity under your linked accounts and for keeping those accounts secure. Do not attempt to access another person's account or session.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
Upload illegal content, malware, or material you do not have rights to share
Scrape, overload, or disrupt the service in a way that harms availability for others
Attempt to bypass authentication, authorization, or other security controls
Use the service for any unlawful purpose

User content

You retain ownership of content you submit (for example nicknames, notes, board data, and uploads). By submitting content, you grant Nuzlocked a non-exclusive license to host, display, and process that content as needed to operate the service for you and other participants in your org or season.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit that content and that it does not violate these terms or applicable law.

Fan content and Pokémon

Pokémon names, characters, images, marks, and related materials are owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures, and their respective rights holders. Nuzlocked is unofficial fan software and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by those parties.

The product displays Pokémon-related sprites, icons, and similar assets for run tracking and community tooling. We do not sell those assets. Image sources we rely on today include:

Pokémon Showdown (play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites): trainer portraits, item icons (including copies vendored under public/sprites/), and animated / gen5 fallbacks via our sprite proxy
PokeAPI sprites (github.com/PokeAPI/sprites): default still species art
Bulbagarden and related archives: occasional hand-vendored assets (for example the RS Interviewer portrait used in Reporter Duo)

Naming those sources is attribution, not a license grant. It does not give you (or us) rights beyond using this service as a fan tool. Upstream project terms still apply where relevant.

If you use ROMs, patches, or related game files with the app, you are responsible for complying with applicable law and licenses. Nuzlocked does not distribute copyrighted game ROMs.

As is; no warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, especially while the product is early and may be free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators of Nuzlocked are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (currently often zero) or (b) fifty U.S. dollars.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, if required for security or legal reasons, or if we discontinue the service. You may stop using the site at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including ownership, licenses already granted for hosting, disclaimers, and limitations) continue after termination.

Governing law

A specific governing law and venue have not been locked in yet. Until we name one, treat disputes as subject to discussion with the operator, and contact us before filing a formal claim when practical. Do not rely on this section as a complete choice-of-law clause.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
